No SPANKIING LAW...spare the rod, spoil the child!

Over the last few days I have had this on my mind after seeing a news report of this proposed law in Massachusetts...are you kidding me, me a parent can go to jail and get fined for spanking my child...now I can understand beating a child i.e child abuse, but spanking.

I am sorry the government has no right to come into the home and make rules, are we giving children to much power and then we wonder why the crime and jail rate is going through the roof. I can honestly say that I have only hit my daughter 1 or 2 times in her 7 y/o life and both times it was totally called for...I would rather give her a little pain on her butt than watch her get sentenced to jail, and let the court system decide how to punish my child...I have always told my daughter's mom, my parents never had to pick me up from jail or come up with bail money to get me outta jail and I ain't either...

Now I do understand that there are a few of us parents that go above the call of duty and commit abuse of their child, even the Bible says spare the rod, spoil the child, is that not true? Why are they putting spanking your child and corporal punishment in the same breathe...using those words together makes it sound a lot worse than it really is...so let me get this straight, I believe that some children can be disciplined with words and something that I never have used...TIMEOUT!!! what the hell is that anyway? I can only imagine what types of things I would have done if I wasn't afraid that my dad or mom would have kicked my ass, but instead put me in TIMEOUT...ok so I disobey and I get put in the corner for a couple of hours, and then all is good, is that what they are calling JAIL these days "TIMEOUT"?

Do you agree with these new proposed laws? and I know if Indiana passed this no spanking LAW...I know they probably wouldn't care but Indiana would have one less citizen cause I am moving and moving quickly!

and here is another thing, what about this, when we elect a politician into office does that mean that we have to agree with their crazy views when they present these ideas to congressional body, was this something that based their platform on when they were running for office, I bet not, so I think that is something that we would need to vote on...I wouldn't be opposed to going back to the polls and voting on things that they believe in their hearts is right and get the consensus of the people that elected them, instead of some group that spends big dollars contributing to their election campaigns...this is starting to get sickening...how about we look at some of these other countries who don't play when it comes to crime...I wonder why their crime rates are a lot lower than ours...but then again is this a ploy to put more people in jail to give more judges, police officers, parole offices, lawyers more jobs and more income, or better yet build bigger prisons since they are becoming big money businesses...is this is the case, I want to buy a prison so I retire wealthy!

Just my take on a thought that I think is stupid, but these are the people that we vote into office, beware because once they get in, they make the rules whether we the people like them or not! That is the power that we give them, that is also another reason that why you need to vote!
