I will start this off today...you guys know me as gioperation, my mom knows me as Ryan Hodge...I have always been in some type of sales for the most part...I don't know what I would do if I couldn't be in sales of some sort...I love my freedom, I have never been able to sit at a desk and do office type work, I need my freedom to do what I do best, network with others...I like to talk to people and find out what makes them tick, satisfy their needs

...so I have always sold products that I know that people could use and only from companies that I could respect...I have always had this motto...if I wouldn't sell this to my mom or my sister then I don't want any part of it...

When I sell a product to a customer, I now have a customer for life, not only that, but I also want to sell to their families and their friends because they referred me...I have been pretty successful in doing that...

I haven't done financial planning in about 4 years but I still get a couple phone calls a month asking me if I can help them..."I LOVE THAT"...that means I made a difference in someones life.

Success starts with learning

Proverbs Chapter 6 1-11 says, but what does that say to you.

My son, if you have put up security for your neighbor,
if you have struck hands in pledge for another,

2 if you have been trapped by what you said,
ensnared by the words of your mouth,

3 then do this, my son, to free yourself,
since you have fallen into your neighbor's hands:
Go and humble yourself;
press your plea with your neighbor!

4 Allow no sleep to your eyes,
no slumber to your eyelids.

5 Free yourself, like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter,
like a bird from the snare of the fowler.

6 Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!

7 It has no commander,
no overseer or ruler,

8 yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.

9 How long will you lie there, you sluggard?
When will you get up from your sleep?

10 A little sleep, a little slumber,
a little folding of the hands to rest-

11 and poverty will come on you like a bandit
and scarcity like an armed man. [a]

To me it says that if you have told someone what you will do then just do it...and if you can't do what you say...get tell that person that you haven't done it...and then go to work like some bandit in the night, take the approach of an ant and take it from there... the Ant doesn't have a boss, but gets the job done, no matter what.

Why sleep when you can be working doing something to bring in a fair wage, and get it done the legal way, the harder you work the better it is and the more you should have, sure there are shortcuts and over time of just doing something you will learn them, it doesn't take that much time...in the beginning you will work very hard with smaller results, and once you get the hang of it and everyone has different getting it points, some quicker than others. Don't let someone else early successes ruin your future success take the story of the tortoise and the hare...the hare was running circles around the tortoise but the tortoise did his thing and took it slow and steady, while the hare was so out in front that he decided to slack off out of being cocky that he would win the race...I ain't going to answer but you guys know who won the race.

What I have found in my many years in sales is that you have to take it nice and easy...sure every boss wants some guy that comes in and tears it up, and by all means that can be you, and it can be me, but if you don't, you shouldn't worry as you will get it and when you do, look out because you will not be able to be stopped...stop comparing yourself to someone else, you know exactly what their backgrounds are and what training they have done in the past...just do who you are, sure maybe read some books, listen to some tapes about getting better, in other words learn you strengths because you too can be just like the Ant or the Tortoise.

This is not about what I think, this is about what is written in the scriptures, most people think that I was born successful, it takes hard work, and long hours, long after the workday is over you still have to read some books, listen to some tapes and talk to other successful people, at least that is what I did.

I think back to me starting in the Financial Services business and when I started they told me that in order to get paid 50% commission, I had to do this and that...so the first thing I asked was how...they showed me and I did it. I will admit that they used a pretty good incentive to get me there, first my manager showed me how much money I was losing, not how much I could make, because he made me vision myself already having that money...that is important, of course I was thinking that I didn't have a clue as to what I was doing, he said wouldn't you rather learn getting 50% then getting 25%...I was like yeah, that makes a huge difference so he gave me a few tapes and books to read, so for the next few months, I didn't listen to the radio or watch TV, I was reading and listening so that I could be the best person I could be.

I will tell you what I found...I don't know exactly how much I made, but what I do know is that I was at one point 60% of my managers income on a monthly basis and with that brings extras...so by working hard early, you can reap the benefits later.
